# dbt Cloud MCP server

dbt Cloud's remote server reads a team's project metadata, models, sources, tests, lineage, job runs, and Semantic Layer metrics, and can trigger, retry, or cancel a job run. Tracing a model's lineage or querying a defined metric by dimension needs no CLI; the self-hosted dbt-mcp adds the dbt CLI commands themselves.
