# Stripe - Integration Instructions

> Connect Stripe payments and subscriptions to SourceMedium with a restricted API key.

Stripe processes payments and subscriptions for your store. SourceMedium reads Stripe so charges, invoices, and subscribers can be analyzed next to Shopify orders.

  You connect data sources yourself in SourceMedium. Sign in to your [SourceMedium account](https://urchin.sourcemedium.com), open your store, then in the **Data sources** section click **Connect data source** and choose the platform. You need an **Editor** or **Admin** role on the store. If you have view-only access, ask an admin or editor on your team to connect it.

## How to connect

SourceMedium connects to Stripe with a restricted read key that you create in Stripe and paste into SourceMedium.

    In Stripe, go to **Developers → API keys** and create a restricted key with read access to customers, charges, invoices, and subscriptions.

    Find **Stripe** in the connector picker and click **Connect**. Paste the restricted key and confirm the Stripe account.

    SourceMedium checks the key before saving it.

<Note>Raw data only. Stripe lands as warehouse tables. It is not modeled in `sm_transformed_v2`, dashboards, or Uni yet.</Note>

  SourceMedium only ever reads from your connected platforms. It does not create, change, or delete anything, so create the key with **read-only** access wherever the platform offers it. Treat it like a password: keep it confidential and avoid sharing it over email or in spreadsheets. If the credential is rotated or revoked, follow this guide's connection method to update SourceMedium.
